Community Guidelines

How we keep Indiestry a good place for voice actors.

Last updated: April 25, 2026

Indiestry is a platform for voice actors at every level — students, working pros, hobbyists, casting directors, and people just exploring the craft. These guidelines help keep the community welcoming, professional, and useful. Everyone who uses the platform agrees to follow them.

Be respectful

Treat other members the way you'd want to be treated. Disagree with ideas, not people. Constructive critique of demos, technique, and work is welcome. Personal attacks, name-calling, and harassment are not.

Use inclusive language. Voice acting brings together people of every background. Make space for everyone.

What's not allowed

  • Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or other protected characteristic
  • Harassment, threats, or intimidation
  • Sexually explicit content, nudity, or sexually suggestive material
  • Graphic violence, gore, or content that promotes harm to yourself or others
  • Doxxing or sharing other members' private information without consent
  • Spam, scams, or unsolicited self-promotion
  • Misrepresenting your identity, credentials, or work
  • Misleading job postings (fake gigs, undisclosed unpaid work presented as paid, scams)
  • Pirated content, copyrighted material you don't have rights to, or AI-generated voice clones of real people without their consent
  • Content that exists primarily to provoke, troll, or derail conversations

Be honest about your work

If a demo reel includes work you didn't perform, label it clearly. If you used AI tools to generate or modify a voice, disclose it. Don't pass off other people's voices as your own.

Job postings

If you post a casting call or job, be clear about: what the project is, whether it pays (and how much), the time commitment, deadlines, usage rights, and any union or non-union expectations. Vague or misleading listings will be removed.

Community chat and direct messages

Community chat is a public space for all signed-in members. Keep it welcoming. Don't dominate the conversation, don't spam, and don't pile on individual members.

Direct messages are private. Don't use them to harass, spam, or send unsolicited promotional content. If someone asks you to stop messaging, stop.

Reporting and moderation

If you see content that breaks these guidelines, use the report function on the post, comment, or message. Reports are reviewed by Indiestry staff. We may remove content, warn users, suspend accounts, or permanently terminate accounts depending on severity and history.

We don't share who reported what.

Appeals

If your account is suspended or content is removed and you think it's a mistake, email support@indiestryvoice.com with your username and a brief explanation. We'll review.

Updates

We may update these guidelines as the community grows. Major changes will be announced in the community chat and via email.
